HATTIESBURG, Miss.- The Tulane Green Wave extended their season as the defeated UCF in day two of the Conference USA Tournament at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Green Wave scattered lone runs throughout the contest, while putting up a four-spot in the seventh to lift the club over the Knights, whose season ends with the 7-3 loss. Tulane shortstop Josh Prince enjoyed a productive afternoon both at the plate and on the bases, with the junior from Sulphur, La. setting records in his five-hit, five-stolen base performance. The five stolen bases brings Prince's season total to a national-high of 48, while his fifth stolen base of contest also set a new Tulane single-game stolen bases record. The previous record of four was accomplished on multiple times but most recently by Prince earlier in the season against Northern Colorado on March 20. Prince's performance also tied Conference USA records for each in the single game category, with Prince being the only C-USA student-athlete to complete the feat in the same game.

"He had a good day today," head coach Rick Jones said of Prince's afternoon. "He's hitting in the leadoff spot for a reason--to get on base and he can really steal bases, his numbers show that. He got on base and he got on base by base hit. Once he's on base, he's a hard guy to keep from moving to the next one. He did a good job of that today and it certainly helped us."

Tulane got on the board early, as Prince opened the game with a chopper down the third base line that landed the leadoff hitter at second. He was on the move with Scott Powell in the box and Powell did his job on a ball to the right side. With Prince standing at third and one out, Sam Honeck stepped in and quickly picked up his 70th RBI on a ground ball to UCF's second baseman Shane Brown. Brown's throw pulled Kiko Vasquez off first and everyone was safe as Prince touched the pay station to give Tulane the 1-0 advantage.

The Green Wave added a run in the third when Prince again led off the frame with a double to left. He stole third and Powell got the bunt down, bringing Prince across the dish as the Wave went up 2-0.

Tulane starter Conrad Flynn stayed solid on the mound, tossing 6.2 innings for his club, to improve his record to 8-3. Flynn had runners at first and second with two down in the bottom of the fourth before D.J. Hicks worked his way on via a base on balls, just Flynn's sixth issued all season, to load the bases. But Flynn went right back to work, striking out Chris Duffy to get out of the jam and get Tulane back in the dugout.

Nick Boullosa started things off for Tulane in the top of the seventh when he picked up a base knock to left field with one down. Prince followed with his fourth base hit, a bloop single behind the bag at second, moving Boullosa to third. With Powell in the box, Prince took off for second and Powell took Knights starter Kyle Sweat back up the middle. Shortstop Eric Kallstrom laid out and knocked it down but the speedy Powell was easily safe, as Boullosa (3-4) came in to score, putting Tulane up 3-0. The hit would end Sweat's outing with Prince and Powell at second and first, respectively, being Sweat's responsibility.

Prince stole third, with Powell trailing behind him at second and Honeck drew the walk. A wild pitch brought everybody up a bag, sending Prince across the dish for the run and with the infield in, Schaffer punched it through the 5.5 hole to score Powell and Honeck, giving Tulane the 6-0 advantage after six and a half.

UCF got on the board in the bottom half of the frame when Duffy singled to right. Chadd Hartman reached on a Tulane error, moving Duffy to third. Colin Arnold doubled down the right field line, scoring Duffy and moving Hartman to the hot corner. Flynn stayed strong, inducing the popup out of Kallstrom, while Shane Brown lined out to Honeck at first. Brandon Romans picked up his teammates, however, driving the ball to left center, scoring Arnold and Hartman and bringing UCF within three, 6-3. Beau Taylor drew the walk, moving Romans to second and that would end Flynn's outing, as Jones called on Nick Pepitone out of the pen. Vasquez worked the count full before Pepitone threw him a chair to work out of the jam and end the Knights' offensive threat.

Matt Ryan led off the eighth, reaching base on an error. He went to third on Boullosa's single to centerfield and came in to score on a wild pitch just prior to Prince picking up his fifth hit of the afternoon, putting Tulane up 7-3. Pepitone returned to hold the Knights scoreless in the eighth and ninth to pick up his ninth save of the season and give Tulane the victory. With a winning day under their belts, the Wave will wait to see who they face in the next matchup, taking on the loser of the East Carolina-Southern Miss game, which is taking place Thursday at 7:30PM.

Tulane will take on their next foe Friday at 12:30PM, a game time that has been moved up due to the forecast of inclement weather in the Hattiesburg area.
