Head Coach Rick Jones
"I thought we played really well tonight. We had that one error late, but we played well defensively. Andrew (Reeves) did not have his best stuff and he lost command in the second inning, but he fought through it, got out of (the second inning), and got us into the sixth inning. He minimized (his pitch count) as best he could knowing that he walked three in that one inning and it really was tough for him. (Tyler) Mapes got us out of the sixth, (Alex) Facundus got us out of the seventh, and D.J. (Ponder) got us out of the ninth, so our bullpen performed for us, as well. Obviously, Brandon (Boudreaux) had a stellar night and set the tone by hitting the first pitch of the ball game out of the park. (Andrew) Garner's homerun was big at the time and helped us stretch the lead after we lost a five run lead. I thought that was a huge play in the game."
On opening the series with a win
"We played well tonight, just played well tonight. I am pleased with a win, no question. We had to play well to (to get a win) and we did. We beat a (starting pitcher) with really good numbers. I am pleased with a win."
On what he said to Reeves after three walks
"I just asked him if he was okay. I have a lot confidence in him. He has a great mound presence; he has mound presence at the highest level. I have a lot of confidence in him. I wanted to know if he was okay. So then I said, `Let me just stay here for a little bit and let you catch your breath.' It was a hot, humid night. I wanted the umpire get out there to give him more time to catch his breath, and I think it worked."
