Jake Burnham went 2-for-4 with two homers and four RBI and Andy Cannizaro was 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBI to lead Tulane (24-7, 7-2) to a 10-1 victory over UAB (14-10, 4-5) in a Conference USA game at Turchin Stadium.
The victory was the eighth straight for the Green Wave while UAB lost for the fourth consecutive time. The Green Wave also stretched their all-time record over UAB to 12-0.
The Blazers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning as Brandon Davis doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Reimers.
The Green Wave tied the game in the fifth as Burnham hit his first homer of the game, a solo shot to center.
Tulane scored five times in the sixth as Cannizaro had a two-RBI triple to left center off UAB starter Nick Bridenback(2-2). Later in the inning, Burnham hit a three-run homer to left off Blazer reliever Kevin Sommerfeld.
In the eighth, Tulane scored four unearned runs on a sac fly by Matt Groff, a fielder's choice groundout by James Jurries and a two-run homer by Cannizaro, his first of the season.
Dan O'Gara (4-0) pitched 6.2 innings and struck out six with nine hits allowed for Tulane. Bridenback (2-2) worked 5.1 innings, allowed five hits, struck out three and walked one.
Tulane travel s to Hammond on Wednesday, April 7th to take on Southeastern Louisiana at 6:30 p.m.
