TULANE HEAD COACH Rick Jones
Thoughts on the game
"It was a fun game to watch. It was tightly contested, there was a lot of emotion and there was a lot of change of events. Sean Morgan gave us a gutty, gutty effort. When you punch out the side with the bases loaded and nobody out like he did, what can you say. That just gave us a great lift. And when you have Daniel Latham in the bullpen and with the lead late, you've got an advantage."
More on Sean Morgan's performance
"I think the mark of a real competitor and a real pitcher is when they can keep you in a ballgame and give you a chance to win without their best stuff. And then when it's crunch time, they can make pitches. Sean has done that a lot. And certainly tonight, that's what he did. That's the mark of a true competitor. When he had to make pitches, he made them. That was just a great lift for us."
On the offensive production
"Jared Dyer and Warren McFadden had big at-bats tonight. We got one more run then they did tonight, and that's all we needed."
EAST CAROLINA HEAD COACH BILLY GODWIN
Thoughts on the game
"I thought T.J. (Hose) threw outstanding. I don't think there was anything we did on the mound - we played good defense. We just have to give Morgan a lot of credit, that kid's pretty good. That breaking ball is as good as any we've seen all year. You just have to tip your hat to him. Our guys will come out tomorrow and we'll battle back. We're fine. We lost a well-played game tonight. We still have the opportunity to win the series, but we've got to win the game tomorrow."
On Saturday's matchup between East Carolina's Dustin Sasser and Tulane's Shooter Hunt
"I don't know as much about Shooter as I do about Dustin, but Dustin is throwing well. He seems to be hot right now, so we're excited to get him out there. I've seen the numbers and we're going to be facing a good pitcher tomorrow. We'll have to be ready to swing the bats."
