Head Coach R. Jones
"Andrew (Reeves) set the tone for us tonight. That was impressive and is a big boost to our pitching staff. I think that Randy (LeBlanc) really fed off of that, to be honest with you, and it wasn't as clean as we would have liked, but Andrew (Garner) and Alex Facundus got their work in the in the seventh and eighth. D.J. Ponder was very good in the ninth and we played well defensively. We swung the bats really well, but we left a lot of runners on base and stranded a runner with less than two outs at third three times tonight. When you lead a lot of guys on base, you have to be getting a lot of guys on base, so you can look at it both ways. This was a very good win over a team that has been playing very well."
On the six-run fifth inning
"We put a lot of good swings on the ball in the sixth. We were aggressive early in the count on good pitchers and they put good swings on them."
On the team swinging the bats well
"We needed tonight badly, because this weekend was so tough for us. We struggled badly this weekend, so we needed (a night like tonight). The key for me is to see how our club handles tonight's win. Where we haven't been as good as we need to be has been struggling in scoring enough runs. We are leading the conference in batting average, but we need to produce some more runs in some cases. Every time we start playing well someone says, `you guys are really starting to play well', we stumble. That is something that our kids have to be more mature about and that is what we are going to talk about tomorrow."
On the team's energy
"When you have a committed group of guys like we do you are going to see them come out with serious intent (each day). When you play a midweek game on the road in front of a big crowd and everybody knows everybody, there are going to be some emotions. You still have to translate that into quality play against a really good team. I think we played really well tonight."
