Recap |  Final Stats

TULANE HEAD COACH Rick Jones

Thoughts on the game
"It was a really dominant performance by Shooter which we certainly needed. When you get four unearned runs and that's all you get, it's disappointing offensively. Their lefty did a good job, but we left a lot of guys on. It looked like the way we've won most of our games this year. But we got away from what we did last night, which I was real excited about, so we reverted back. You have to give their pitcher a lot of credit, but at the same time, I thought our commitment with two outs and even with one out was not what it needed to be."

"We didn't get the leadoff hitter on and we left a lot of guys on. It felt like we didn't cash in and stretch the lead. But we won 4-1 and we played really well defensively. We had really, really good play at third base today from Seth Henry. I thought the play he made on the bunt there in the eighth was a huge play in the game. We don't' get the out there, it could have been a tough day. Even though he was in, it was a perfect bunt and that was a tough play with a big runner."

On Ty Wallace's day
"His two-RBI hit was huge because that stretches it. But Ty really caught well today. He caught a pop-up and blocked up everything. Don't forget Ty Wallace down the stretch last year. He's a guy hit over .300 and did a great job behind the plate. It's good to know we've got two guys back there (with Jared Dyer) right now, along with Grayden Griener, who we have a lot of confidence in. But Ty had a great day."

On clinching the series on Saturday
"It's not about series wins in conference play. It's about how many conference games you win over the course of the season. Every game you win is another one that will help you in the conference standings. You can't look at it as far as winning seasons. You do that when you get to Super Regional play. You do that when you get to the championship round of the College World Series. Until then, it's about every conference weekend you have to try to win as many as you can."

TULANE STARTER Shooter Hunt

On his performance against Marshall
"I think we played a great game. We had that one error but they made three and that hurt them more then anything. We didn't give up the big hit. Ty did a great job behind the plate, squeezing the third strikes off the foul tip and then getting the big two-run hit for us."

On the play of the defense down the stretch
"That's championship baseball right there - stepping up big, especially in the later innings. Baseball is a game where every day, something new is going to happen. You get a clean slate each day. Tomorrow is a new day for them and a new day for us. Today, we were able to pull it out.

On his Tulane experience to date
"The experience has been great. The tradition is tremendous. Any time I start feeling a little low, I just get the media guide out and look at pictures from 2005 and 2001 because that's what it's all about - getting to Omaha and winning a championship."

On clinching the weekend series on Saturday
"We definitely want to get the sweep tomorrow and we want to see the fans with their sweep shirts on. Our pitching should be back to. Daniel Latham threw a lot in four innings yesterday so I knew that I had to go out there and give him a break. Now our bullpen should be ready for tomorrow.

TULANE CATCHER Ty Wallace

On his performance at the plate
"I felt good today and I'm glad that I could get some hits today and help the team out. I saw the ball okay today and I'm just glad we won."

On the performance of starting pitcher Shooter Hunt
"Shooter was great. His curveball was real sharp. He was spotting up his fastball. The strikezone was a little tight today, but he got it done. He was pretty consistent with his stuff all day."
