CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Tulane (17-7, 1-2 CUSA) Green Wave hit seven home runs to defeat UNC Charlotte (9-9, 2-1 CUSA) 17-4 on Sunday. Chad Sutter broke the Tulane school record for career home run hitting his 58th and 59th in the game. James Jurries had two homer and Jason Sparks toured the park hitting three over the right, left and center field walls. The game was called after the seventh inning due to the 12-run rule.
LHP Jared Berkowitz (5-2) picked up his fifth win of the season going six innings before being relieved by Raul Echeverz. Berkowitz gave up three earned runs and struck out three.
Leading the Wave at the plate was Jurries going 2-for-5 with a game-high six RBI and three runs. Sutter went 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs. Sparks went 3-for-4 with three home runs, four RBI and three runs scored.
The seven homers in the game is a season-high for Tulane.
Tulane takes on LSU in Baton Rouge on Wednesday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
