Recap |  Final Stats

TULANE HEAD COACH Rick Jones

Overall thoughts on the game
"Once again, Sean Morgan was just dominant. It was a real impressive performance. Defensively, we were really solid. Offensively, it wasn't a tremendous night for us, but it certainly was an improvement in that we had some RBI hits. Nate Simon had a big bases-loaded single, and that was big for us because it stretched the lead. When you have Sean Morgan on the mound throwing the way he's throwing with that kind of lead, you feel pretty comfortable"

On Sean Morgan bouncing back after a rocky first inning
"He just didn't have his rhythm in the first inning. The second inning, you could see he was a totally different guy. Even though he didn't have it in his first inning, he fought through it, got through it and got it going in the second inning. It was classic him after that."

TULANE STARTING PITCHER Sean Morgan

On have a 30-pitch first inning before settling down
"I wasn't very loose. I was trying to guide the ball. After the first, I settled down and started throwing it like I could. I was getting it over the plate and the defense made the plays we needed to make."

On what he did between the first and second innings
"Coach Sutter came up to me and said `you're rushing a little bit. Calm down and take a couple of breaths.' That's what I did and the rest was history. The new career high in strikeouts was nice, but I'm just glad the hitters were able to break through a little bit tonight."

SIENA HEAD COACH TONY ROSSI

Overall thoughts on the game
"(Sean Morgan) pitched a great game. He just dominated us. To have eight called strikes, we really weren't aggressive enough with two strikes. But he threw a hell of a game. They took advantage of our defensive lapses in the sixth inning, but it was going to be tough to score against him because we didn't put the bat on the ball. You've got to put the ball in play, especially a day like today with a little bit of wind. You never know what's going to happen, but he pitched a hell of a ballgame."

On the four-run fifth inning
"We had three errors in that one inning right there. If not for the errors, it's still a 2-0 ballgame. I'm not sure if it would have made a big difference because we didn't score off him anyway, but the fact of the matter is 2-0 vs. 4-0 keeps it a little closer and puts a little pressure on their defense. We kind of fell apart a little bit, but that's just one of those things."
