NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane (14-5) baseball team defeated Elon College (5-14) 4-1 Saturday evening. After pushing the game time back five hours due to inclimate weather, RHP Henry Bonilla (4-1) recorded his first complete game and picked up his fourth win of the season. Green Wave designated hitter Steve Shirley hit his second home run of the year.

The Green Wave's first run of the evening was driven home by a Jake Gautreau (3B) sacrifice hit in the second inning. In the third, a Jason Sparks (RF) sacrifice fly allowed James Jurries (2B) to score, which gave the Wave a 2-0 lead. Scott Brendle (RF) put Elon's only run on the board with a fifth inning homer over the right field fence. Tulane answered with two runs scored in the bottom of the fifth. These included Shirley's home run and a run scored on an RBI sacrifice fly by Chad Sutter (c).

In nine innings, Bonilla gave up one earned run, four hits, struck out seven batters and walked one.

Tulane plays Elon on Sunday at Turchin Stadium for a third and final time. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
