NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane (13-5) baseball team picked up its 13th win of the season with a Friday night 12-9 victory over Elon College (5-13). Freshman James Jurries (2B) belted his sixth home run of the year and LHP Jared Berkowitz won his third game of the year.
The Fightin Christians led the Wave 3-2 until the bottom of the third inning when Tulane scored five runs and permanently gained the lead. Elon threghtened in the fourth, coming within two runs of the Wave, but a Jurries solo home run in the seventh solidified the win.
Berkowitz (3-2) pitched five innings before being relieved by LHP Raul Echeverz. Berkowitz struck out three and walked one. Echeverz struck out four walked one and gave up three runs. Brandon Belanger picked up his fourth save of the season going one inning and striking out three of the four batters he faced.
Mickey McKee (1B) went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one double and two runs scored. McKee, Jurries and Steve Shirley (DH) all recorded a game-high two RBI.
