Recap |  Final Stats

TULANE HEAD COACH Rick Jones

Overall thoughts on the game
"This was a really well-played ballgame. It was just a case where they did a good job in the bottom of the eighth. I thought we swung the bat well, too, against some outstanding pitching. We had three or four balls that were really hit well, but just to the wrong part of the ballpark."

On the performance of Shooter Hunt
"I thought Shooter was really good. They did a good job of being patient and running up his pitch count. He just missed on so many pitches, that ran his pitch count up a little bit and we got him out an inning earlier than we wanted to. But we had to do that to protect him."

On how he feels the team played
"I thought we played well. We didn't win the game and we're disappointed with that, but I'm not disappointed with the way we played."

On the pitching matchup between Shooter Hunt and Brett Hunter
"We went up against one of the top pitchers in the nation, one who may be as good as anybody we'll see all year, and I thought we had some real quality at-bats. We didn't have a lot to show for it, but I thought we had some real quality at-bats. We juiced some balls there and didn't have anything fall. Segedin hit a couple of balls well that had we been at home would probably be home runs. Anthony Scelfo, same thing, it would have been a home run. But we're not playing at home. We're playing here. It's a deep park. From right centerfield over, it's a very deep park."

On what the team can take from the game
"We probably hit a few too many balls in the air, but you have to tip your hat. They had six hits, three of them were in the eighth, and this was just a great matchup between two potential first-round picks. I think we've got something that we can really build on."
