TULANE QUOTES
Head Coach Rick Jones
Overall thoughts on the game
"I thought early, we eased into the ballgame, and Southeastern had a little more energy than we did. Both offensively and defensively, I thought Southeastern had more energy, and that is something that we talked about. We talked about it before the game, but I thought we were a little lethargic and they weren't. Then we got back in the flow of the game.
"I think that we had some really good pitching performances out of the bullpen, and with the wind blowing like it was tonight when the ball wasn't going to carry. You've got to win ballgames different ways. I thought our guys did a good job of scrapping in situations that looked pretty bleak in extra innings."
On the games played between Tulane and Southeastern Louisiana
"In my time here, Southeastern and Tulane have played so many games like this, regardless of how good they were or how good we were. It seems like every time we play them, it's always just like this. So, this is pretty much the same kind of game I'm used to with those guys. It took some really good big defensive plays and some quality at-bats, and we pitched really well out of the bullpen late."
Junior First Baseman Sam Honeck
On his final at-bat
"I went up to (associate head) Coach Kingston right before I started the at-bat and he said, 'Just think of it like it's Vienna (where he played summer ball).' Then the ball just came up the middle, so that's what I did. He threw me a fastball, and I did what I could with it."
On the team never quitting
"Oh without a doubt. They all kept up great. Everyone backed each other up. If someone made an error, someone picked them up right after that. It was just great teamwork all around."
SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA QUOTES
Head Coach Jay Artigues
Overall thoughts on the game
"Great college baseball game tonight. You've got to tip your hat to Tulane, they did a great job battling, competing the entire time, and it was a good ballgame. We had a chance to add on early and extend our lead and we didn't take advantage of it. Tulane definitely capitalized."
On the back-and-forth battle
"Both teams did some things on the mound to give them a chance to win. There were a couple of things I probably should have done differently myself, but I tip my hat to both sides, both teams competed very well."
