Recap |  Final Stats

TULANE HEAD COACH Rick Jones

Overall thoughts on the game
"It was a good weekend. We won the game today the way we're going to have to win most games and that's with pitching and defense. We moved runners along and had timely hits. Yesterday is not going to happen very often. Friday and Sunday is the way we're going to play the game. The commitment we showed today, I thought was good."

On the pitchers Shooter Hunt and Daniel Latham
"Shooter pitched so well. He had command of the strike zone with both his fast ball and his breaking ball, and they were both plus pitches. When you have a senior like Daniel who has had the career he's had down in the bullpen, that's a comforting situation. He got the big out then (in the seventh) and then he had a really, really dominant fast ball today. You can tell he was rested because his ball was really jumping out of his hand."

On the weekend performance of junior second baseman Brad Emaus
"Brad had a good weekend and swung it well. He had the kind of swing that justifies him being in the four hole. That's what we need from him. This weekend, he showed what he could do."

TULANE STARTING PITCHER Shooter Hunt

On his performance on Sunday against UNF
"I thought I could throw any pitch on any count, which was key. Jared was back there and he was sticking everything. We wanted to get ahead from the start, and once I got ahead, I was able to finish things up with my breaking ball."

On if one pitch felt better then the other today
"I don't know, but they felt good coming out. In the fall and early this spring, I didn't think I had a real good feel for my breaking ball, but today it was sharp. I think either was effective. I was able to throw my fastball on either side of the plate and I felt like I could throw whatever I wanted."

TULANE RELIEVER Daniel Latham

On coming into the game with bases loaded in a three-run game in the seventh
"It's the same situation I've been in a ton during my career. It's not a new situation for me, but it was the first time this year. I knew I had to go out there, get the guy out, pick up Trey, get out of the inning and keep the lead for us."

On his leadoff homer in the second
"I felt pretty good. I thought I was spotting my fastball pretty well. I thought my slider was good at times, and I threw a couple of good change-ups. I'm never completely comfortable with where I'm at, but today I thought I made some good progress and I felt pretty good."

On sweeping North Florida after last weekend's 2-1 loss to Southeastern Louisiana
"It feels great. Winning is a lot more fun then losing. We knew we were a good team, but we just didn't play like it last weekend. We knew we had something to prove this week. Even though the score might have been close, we thought we were going to win every game. There was never any point in any game where we were questioning ourselves."

SENIOR FIRST BASEMAN Tim Guidry

On the sweep following a disappointing opening weekend
"We felt today was a big game because we'd rather be 4-2 then 3-3. It was huge. Nobody wanted to be .500 again. We didn't execute as often as we did the other night, but we still scratched for five runs, got some bunts down and did some things right. 4-2 feels a whole lot better then 1-2."
