Recap |  Final Stats

Tulane Head Coach Rick Jones

Overall thoughts on the game
"It was just one of those games and that's why you play them because you never know which way it's going to go. I really liked the way our offense responded early today. We had some quality at bats early and we just kept stretching the lead. And we pitched and play well defensively."

On the 12-run third inning
"It happens some times. I've been on the other end. It's just one of those things that happens and no one is immune to it."

On the performance of senior starter Brandon Gomes
"Brandon had a much better outing then last week. He had a lot better command of his pitches and was a lot more aggressive. Of course, when he got the lead, he was able to pound the strike zone early in the count."

Tulane starting pitcher Brandon Gomes

On his performance on Saturday
"I felt good. Obviously, when you have that kind of run support, that would help anybody out. When you play good defense and put together solid at-bats, that makes my job easier."

On the bloop single in the first that led to the game's first run
"It goes both ways. They hit some line drives that we made diving catches on. It really balances out. That's just baseball."

Tulane junior second baseman Brad Emaus

Overall thoughts on the game
"I thought our team played well, Gomes threw really well, and then we had some other guys come in who all threw really well. We played good defense and put a lot of good swings on the ball today."

On his leadoff homer in the second
"The coaches told me to be a little more aggressive. I was up there looking for a pitch in the zone and happened to hit it."

On the 12-run third inning
"I thought the team did great. We were just hitting the ball all over the place. You can't ask for more then that."

On the team's pitching performance
"Anytime our staff goes out there, we know we have a really good shot at winning. They keep us in the ballgame all the time, and hopefully they'll continue to do just as well."

On if the big inning helped the team's confidence
"Always. I'm sure it's got to help the confidence of the pitcher. As a hitter, it's a contagious thing to be able to hit. Once one guy starts doing it and then another, it just keeps coming."
