2002: Appeared in 13 games as a true freshman, including seven starts...earned first career victory in a 6.1 inning start against George Washington (Feb. 24)...also earned the win out of the bullpen against UNO (April 17)...threw a complete-game against UNO (March 19), striking out four and walking outing of the year came vs. Rutgers when he tossed 7.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two and scattering six hits in a no decision...tallied three or more strikeouts on four occasions, including a career-best five vs. Villanova (Feb. 17) the diamond, earned C-USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recognition.

High School: Three-year starter at Archbishop Rummel High for coach Frank Cazeaux where he pitched and played first base...selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 12th round of the 2001 draft...helped the Raiders win three consecutive District 10-5A titles...earned first-team all-district, all-metro and all-state honors his final two prep seasons, claiming district and metro MVP recognition both a senior, rated the No. 56 prospect in the nation by Baseball America and was named Louisiana's Best Pitcher by 14-4 with a 1.62 ERA as a a junior, tallied a 1.05 ERA with 109 strikeouts while hitting the diamond, was a member of Operation Head Start.

Summer Ball: Played with the Waynesboro Generals of the Valley League in 2002...went 1-2 with a 3.45 ERA in 8 appearances and five starts...finished fifth on the team in innings pitched (31.1) while striking out 28 and walking just 13.
