2001: Appeared in eight games as a redshirt-freshman, including one start against Memphis in the Conference USA Tournament...came up big in his lone start, striking out a career-high five in a season-best 6.0 innings to earn his first career victory...tied season-high strikeout mark with five vs. Oklahoma State in the championship game of the New Orleans Regional with 3.2 strong innings of relief...posted five multiple-strikeout games, including three Ks in 3.0 innings of work in his first career appearance vs. Cincinnati (March 23).

2000: Did not play after having "Tommy John" surgery...received a medical redshirt.

High School: Four-year letterman at Salmen High for coach Bill Morris...earned All-District 5-5A honors his final three prep seasons, and was named to all-metro and All-St. Tammany Parish teams as a junior and senior...honorable-mention all-state selection and first-team Louisiana Recruiting News All-Dream Team after helping the Spartans advance to the state championship game...as a sophomore, had 16 strikeouts in a single game, and tallied 14 vs. Gulfport High...helped Salmen go 31-4 and win the state title as a freshman.
