High School: Three-year letterman as a pitcher and third baseman at McCallum High for coach Ben Gittenger...earned all-district honors his final two prep seasons...as a senior, went 5-2 with a 1.09 ERA and 52 strikeouts, including a no-hitter against Travis High...played summer ball with the Baseball Academy of Texas and on the Central Texas High School All-Star Team...off the diamond, was a member of the National Foreign Language Honor Society and the National Honor Roll (3.9 GPA) and was a National Merit Semifinalist.
