"Buddy" Gouldsmith begins his fourth season with the Green Wave baseball program. His responsibilities include hitters and coaching third base. Gouldsmith is also the camp coordinator for the Rick Jones' Tulane Baseball Camps.

Last season, Tulane led Conference USA with a .312 batting average. They were ranked among the top three in home runs and runs scored. All-American and conference player of the year Jake Gautreau led C-USA in four individual categories, including hits and batting average, and was ranked among the top three in RBI, home runs and slugging percentage.

In 1999, Tulane finished third in the nation in total home runs with 128 and fourth in the nation in home runs per game at 1.97. The 128 homers hit by the Wave in 1999 was a Conference USA single season record. Under Gouldsmith's guidance, Tulane led C-USA in eight offensive categories, including home runs, hits, runs, RBI and slugging percentage.

Gouldsmith came to Tulane after serving five years as an assistant coach at American River College in California. Gouldsmith comes from a winning background, as American River won the conference championship his last two seasons, 1996 and 1997. While at American River, he also taught physical education classes for two years. In addition, Gouldsmith acted as an associate scout for the San Francisco Giants from 1994-97.

From 1992 to 1993, Gouldsmith was an assistant coach at Cosumnes River College. He served as the head coach from 1990 to 1994 of the Charles Eggen American Legion team, participants in the 1992 state championship.

A native of Sacramento, Calif.,Gouldsmith graduated from California State University at Sacramento with a degree in business administration. He received his master's degree in sport management in 1996 from the United States Sports Academy.

Gouldsmith played at the junior college level at American River from 1987 to 1989, where he was recognized as a scholar-athlete. He completed his career at California State University at Chico (Chico State).

Gouldsmith and his wife, Heather, have one son, Garrett Casey, who is one-year-old. Gouldsmith and his family reside in River Ridge, LA.
