Baseball posted a 4-3 Walk-off win over Marshall to open Conference USA play at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium



2011 (Sophomore): Earned Preseason All-Conference USA honors...appeared in 57 games with 56 starts...drove in the game-winning run five times during the season - versus Northwestern State (3/1), at Ole Miss (3/6), versus New Orleans (3/18) and UAB (4/30) and at Marshall (5/15)... ...Led the team in assists (176) and tied for the team lead in triples (3)...ranked second on the squad in doubles (8) and third on the squad in fielding chances (273), RBI's (30) and total bases (62)...was a part of 41 double plays...held a season-best eight game hitting streak from March 1-March 13...also held a seven game hitting streak from May 7-May 20...ended the season by reaching base in 11 straight games, beginning on May 7...posted nine multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games on the season...went two-for-five with a double and two RBI's versus George Washington (2/26)...was singled three times and plated an RBI in the series opener versus Northwestern State (3/1)...plated three RBI's and was one-for-two with a walk in the series finale at Ole Miss (3/6)...walked twice and was one-for-three in the series finale versus Wichita State (3/13)...had two hits - including a triple - and drove in three RBI's against Alcorn State (3/16)...collected six hits - including a four-hit game (3/18) - with three doubles, a triple and two walks, while driving in four RBI's in a three-game series versus New Orleans (3/18-20)...was two-for-four with three RBI's in the series opener at UCF (4/8)...had two this in the series finale at Rice (4/17)...singled, walked, scored a run and drove in an RBI against Southeastern Louisiana (4/19)...doubled for one of his two hits in the series finale with Utah (4/23)...posted four hits, scored three runs and drove in an RBI in the final two games for a three game series with UAB (5/6-8)...doubled, walked, scored twice and placed an RBI in the series opener at Marshall (5/13)...doubled for one of his two hits and drove in four RBI's in the series finale at Marshall (5/15)...had a hit in each game at the Conference USA Tournament (5/25-27), with an RBI versus Houston (5/27) in the tournament finale.

2010 (Freshman): Earned Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors...Started 54 games at shortstop...plated the game winning run four times - versus New Orleans (2/24), Towson (3/14), Kansas (3/17) and Marshall (3/26)...led the team in assists (140) and was third in fielding chances (241)...was a part of 25 double plays...was second on the team with four hit-by-pitch and five sacrifice bunts...collected 15 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI contests...posted a 15 game hitting streak from February 20 through March 14...closed the season on a 10 game hitting streak...reached base safely in the first 16 games of his career...collected his first collegiate hit with a seventh inning single against Boston College (2/20) in the second game of the season...plated his first career RBI with a first inning single against New Orleans (2/24) to go along with three hits...posted four hits, scored three runs and drove in a pair of RBI's in a three-game set against Lipscomb (2/26-28)...doubled and scored a run in a midweek tilt at South Alabama (3/3)...went three-for-five with a run scored and an RBI in the series finale against #19 Ole Miss (3/7)...went two-for-five with a triple, a walk, an RBI and a runs scored at New Orleans (3/9)...singled, walked twice and drove in a pair of runs in the series finale versus Towson (3/14)...singled, doubled, scored a run and drove in an RBI in the series finale against Kansas (3/17)...singled twice and drove in three RBI's in the second game of a series versus St. Mary's (Calif.)...plated the game winning RBI with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning versus Marshall (3/26)...was two-for-three with a walk and a run scored in the first game of a double-header at East Carolina (4/3)...scored twice, walked and hit his first career home run in the series opener against Rice (4/9)...was three-for-four with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in the second game of the series versus Rice (4/10)...homered and walked in the series opener at Memphis (4/23)...posted two singles, walked and scored twice in the series finale at Memphis (4/25)...smacked a home run in the series opener against Southern Miss (4/30)...was two-for-three with a double and a pair of RBI's against Louisiana-Monroe (5/4)...collected seven hits, scored three runs and drove in four RBI's in a three game set at Houston (5/7-9)...posted a hit in each game of a three-game series versus UCF, scoring five runs and driving in two RBI's in the series (5/20/22).

Prep: A four-year letterman at Mandeville High School...selected as a first-team all-district and all-parish for three straight seasons...hit .390 as junior season hitting five homeruns with 30 RBI... also posted a 5-0 record with two saves on the mound with a 1.91 ERA to accompany his efforts at shortstop...summer league experience with the Louisiana Knights as team MVP and also received the team's Gold Glove award...selected to participate in the East Coast Professional Showcase Tournament in Lakeland, Florida in 2008.

Personal: Born Garrett Lawrence Cannizaro on August 10, 1990...son of Gary and Susan Cannizaro...older brother Andy Cannizaro is in the Tulane Hall of Fame and has seen time in the big leagues with the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays.
