2002: Played in 30 games as a junior, including three starts in right field...suffered a double-fracture of his right wrist in the preseason that required the insertion of screws and a metal plate, and the injury hampered him all season...hit .125 with four hits in 32 at-bats, including doubles vs. TCU (April 19) and in the Conference USA Tournament vs. Saint Louis (May 22).
2001: Played in 40 games as a sophomore, including 15 starts in right field and two at designated hitter...had five multiple-hit games and three multiple-RBI outings...had a three-game hitting streak from May 12-18 when he hit .571 (4-for-7)...best game of the year came in the season opener against Sam Houston (Feb. 3) when he went 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and a career-high four RBI...also had two-hit performances vs. Pepperdine (Feb. 18), vs. Siena (March 10), vs. Charlotte in the Conference USA Tournament (May 18) and against LSU in the NCAA Super Regional (June 3)...started two games in the Super Regional against LSU, going 3-for-6 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
2000: Played in 32 games as a true freshman, including 23 starts in right field, two at designated hitter and one in center...earned Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors after hitting .325 with six extra-base hits and 16 RBI...had eight multiple-hit games and four multiple-RBI contests...had a four-game hitting streak on two occasions: hitting .615 (8-for-13) from March 22-26 and .500 (4-for-8) from April 25-30...set a career-high with three hits at Houston (March 24) and tied the mark two days later against the Cougars...had a season-high two RBI at Southeastern Louisiana (March 22), at Houston (March 26) and twice at Memphis (April 29, 30).
Summer Ball: Played with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League in 2001...in 2000, played in the Shenendoah Valley League
High School: Two-year letterman at Durango High for coach Mike Gomez...selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 47th round of the 1999 draft...as a senior, helped the Trailblazers win the 4A state championship and rank 22nd in the final USA Today high school poll...in 1999, earned TPX/Louisville Slugger All-America honors and made Baseball America's 100 Top High School Players list...earned honorable-mention all-state honors as a junior when he helped the Trailblazers advance to the Zone Playoffs...also lettered twice in football as a wide receiver and safety, earning all-state honors as a junior...off the diamond, was a member of the Honor Roll and Student Relations Club, and earned the Excellent Attendance award.
