Women's Track and Field Runs on First Day of Tyson Invite, ISU Classic
Feb. 15, 2008 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Tulane University women's track and field senior All-American Gloria Asumnu ran 7.30 seconds in the 60-meter dash to place seventh Friday on the first day of competition at the Tyson Invitational held at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the University of Arkansas campus. Jasmine Momoh ran the 200-meter dash in 25.48 seconds to lead the Green Wave at the Iowa State Classic at the Lied Recreation Facility on the Iowa State University campus, as Tulane is running a split squad this weekend. Asumnu ran a 7.36 in the preliminary round of the 60m, placing seventh overall in the prelims before her finals run. Junior Vanessa Kienast set a season-best time in the 400m at 56.68, while senior Shanon Beelendorf ran 56.80 in her first 400m dash of the season and sophomore Valencia Wilson ran 56.76, all missing out on the finals in the event. The Green Wave is back in action as the Tyson Invitational and the ISU Classic continue Saturday, with the first event scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Ames, Iowa, and 10 a.m. in Fayetteville, Ark.
