One of the newest additions to the Green Wave coaching staff, assistant coach Jelena Jurlina is no stranger to the program, joining the staff after an impressive collegiate career with Tulane. Jurlina is responsible for coaching throwing events and recruiting. While competing for the Green Wave, Jurlina was an instrumental member of the squad. She was named Outdoor MVP in 2003 after collecting 21 points for the Wave in the conference championships that year. She qualified for three NCAA national championships in two events, and earned all-Conference USA honors 11 times during her career. She owns the school outdoor record in the discus, and was in the top three in the javelin and both indoor and outdoor shot put. A native of Zadar, Croatia, Jurlina graduated from Tulane in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in marketing and management. In addition to working with the track and field team, she is currently pursuing a master's degree in liberal arts at Tulane. |
