New Orleans - Tulane University sophomore Mark Manion has been named to the 2012 Conference USA Cross Country Academic Team, as selected by the league's sports information directors for the sport. The all-academic teams consist of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a key member on their team.

A native of Tampa, Fla., Manion has maintained a 3.53 grade point average in environmental biology and was named to both the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and of Tulane's 3.0 Club as a freshman.

On the course this season, Manion ran in all six meets and was one of the team's top performers this fall. He recorded a first place finish and led the Green Wave to its first team title in eight years at the Screamin' Eagle 5K. Manion posted a 12th place finish at the Disney Classic and was 15th at the South Alabama Azalea Classic, where he finished with a season-best time of 26:37.44.
