10/15/2011 Tulane Green Wave at Crimson Classic Start Times: 8:30 a.m. (Men), 9:00 a.m. (Women) Location: Tuscaloosa, Ala. (Harry Pritchett Running Park)
NEW ORLEANS - With a positive result at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede two weeks ago, the Tulane cross country teams are hoping to end the regular season with similar success at the Crimson Classic this Saturday, October 15th, at the University of Alabama. The men will be running the first race covering eight kilometers, followed by the women running five kilometers at the Harry Prichett Running Park.
With eight runners for the men's squad taking part in the race, they are hoping to come together for another successful finish after placing third overall at McNeese State. Leading the pack will be Brian Lozes, who had the team's best time last weekend, 20:29, and Max Miller, who had the team's second best time, 20:38, at the Stampede. Fellow upperclassmen Mike Mainguy, Jordan Vance, and Mike Villasin, who all finished within 2:09 of Lozes' top time, will also be participating in the race and hope to end the regular season on a high note.
Freshmen Cody Gibbons, Geoffrey Zelek, and top rookie performer in the last meet, Mark Manion, are looking to continue their strong showings. Manion followed Lozes and Miller with the team's third best time last weekend, finishing the four mile course in 20:56.
Led by rising star and the team's top runner, Paige Callahan, the women's squad hopes to have another impressive performance in Alabama. After running the team's best time again last weekend, Callahan has now been the team's top runner in all three meets. Her time of 18:01 was a personal best, which was one of six personal bests set by the women's squad at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede.
Competing along with Callahan are Tavie Abell, Emmi Aguillard, Cassie Campbell, Katherine Crabtree, Jessica Dallager, Johanna Gretschel, and Callie Turlington. In the last meet, Crabtree and Aguillard followed Callahan with the team's second and third best time, respectively.
The men will start the meet with their race at 8:30 a.m. at the Harry Pritchett Running Park and the women will follow at 9:00 a.m. This will be the last meet of the regular season for the Green Wave.
