A Look at the Men's Squad
Even without their top runner, Brian Lozes, the Green Wave men's squad claimed a tenth place finish at the Crimson Classic. Sophomore Jordan Vance was the team's top performer over the weekend with a 57th place finish. Vance set a new personal best on the 8K course with a time of 27:14.00, marking the second straight week he has notched a new PR. The sophomore has lowered his career-best time by nearly 75-seconds from last season and is almost a full three-minutes better than he was in 2009.
Max Miller had another solid showing for the Olive and Blue in Tuscaloosa, finishing 63rd overall in a time of 27:35.00 and junior Mike Mainguy crossed the finish line in 69th place (27:51.40). Jordon Holtzman saw his first action of the fall and crossed the finish line in 30:20.60.
Emmi Aguillard trimmed 40-seconds off her time from last week and placed 49th in a time of 19:17.90, while Katherine Crabtree placed 46th in 19:06.30 to set a new career mark. The Green Wave also had six runners competing for the first time at the collegiate level, while senior Peggy Keplinger ran 19:49.30 to break her old PR by over 90-seconds.
The Olive and Blue moved up one spot in the Week Two Regional rankings released by the USTFCCCA and are now ranked 13th in the South Central Region. The Green Wave will compete against Houston (12th) and McNeese State (14th) this weekend on the course.
