NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association announced that the 2012 Tulane women's cross country team has earned All-Academic Status for their achievements in the classroom and in their sport.

The recognition marks the second straight year the squad has been honored by the USTFCCCA, and the third time overall. The 1995 team also earned All-Academic Status. "I'm very proud of the effort and how serious our student-athletes approach their training and their academic pursuits," said Tulane director of track and field Eric Peterson. "I'm particular proud of this group, because I know how rigorous it is to pursue an education at Tulane University. Our team GPA is an indication that our kids are working very hard and producing at a high level in the classroom. That is a big part of what we are promoting here as a cross country program."

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.

The Greenies held a team GPA of 3.368, thanks in large part to the individual efforts in the classroom of freshman Jessica Adamson (3.525), senior Emmi Aguillard (3.438), junior Aimee Arceneaux (3.934), sophomore Paige Callahan (3.314), senior Katherine Crabtree (3.856), sophomore Tiffany Kenney (3.575), sophomore Kelci Lyons (3.499), junior Amanda Savage (3.845), freshman Mikayla Sonneborn (3.640) and freshman Callie Turlington (3.719).

Callahan, Crabtree, Aguillard, Sonneborn and Arceneaux all ran in the South Central Regional Championship on Nov. 11. Callahan finished with a time of 21:50.74, followed by Crabtree (22:59.27), Aguillard (23:03.04), Sonneborn (23:25.38) and Arceneaux (24:57.04).
