Bessie Hatch

Voted the top freshman for Louisiana Cross Country after winning three races during her rookie season, but sat out the remainder of the year due to injury.

AS A FRESHMAN (2003-04)
Redshirted the seasons. CROSS COUNTRY: Named the Lousiana Cross Country Freshman of the Year. Won three races during her rookie year and added a second-place finish at the 106-runner LSU Invitational (9/27). Posted a career-best six-kilometer time of 22:37.30 at the Conference USA Championship (11/1) while her top 5K time was 18:41.39 at the 113-runner Southern Miss Invitational (9/12), which she won. Selected Athlete of the Week in Conference USA three times.

Prep: Lettered in cross country, soccer and lacrosse. Led her team to the California State Championship in cross country as a senior. Ran a personal-best three-mile cross country time of 17:34. Helped her team to three league titles in lacrosse and captained her soccer team.

Personal: Therese Devous Hatch. Born October 16, 1985 in Panarama City, Calif. The daughter of William and Mary Hatch. The youngest of four children. Older sister Bridie Hatch ran track at UCLA and was part of school record-setting 4x800 relay team. Plans to major in psychology at Tulane.
