NEW ORLEANS - Tulane's track and field program have scheduled themselves a bevy of meets for both the indoor and outdoor seasons, and they will once again host their own meet - The Tulane Challenge - during the outdoor campaign, announced the program on Wednesday.

The Green Wave will participate in nine indoor meets prior to the Conference USA Indoor Championships on Feb. 28-March 1 in Birmingham, Ala., and the NCAA Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., on March 14-15. During the outdoor season, the Green Wave will take part in eight meets before competing at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships from May 15-18 in Houston, Texas.

The NCAA East Regionals for the outdoor season will be in Jacksonville, Fla., this season from May 29-31, followed by the NCAA Outdoor Championships from June 9-14 in Eugene, Ore.

"I believe this schedule is going to give all of our athletes who are performing at all levels a wonderful opportunity to challenge themselves," said the director of Tulane track and field, Eric Peterson. "Our athletes will have the opportunity to compete within the region as well as gain a national level of exposure."

The Green Wave will kick off their indoor season at the BSC Panther Indoor Icebreaker on Dec. 6 in Birmingham, Ala., before waiting until after the New Year to compete again.

Once the calendar changes, the Green Wave will be in full swing, as they will take part in the UAB Blazer Invitational on Jan. 10-11, once again in Birmingham, Ala. The team will then head west to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete at the Cherry and Silver Invitational from Jan. 24-25.

The next three weeks will see the Green Wave head back to Birmingham, Ala., as they will compete at the Southern Miss Invitational (Jan. 30), the Samford Multi and Invitational (Feb. 7-8) and the Southern Miss Cupid Classic on Valentine's Day.

As a matter of fact, Valentine's Day will see the team split into three different factions, as some of the team will compete at the aforementioned meet in Birmingham, while others will be at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., or the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Feb. 14-15.

After the busy Valentine's Day weekend, the Green Wave will have one last meet - the LSU Twilight on Feb. 21 - before kicking off postseason competition.

The outdoor season begins on March 7, as the Peterson will take his squad to Mobile, Ala., for the Jaguar Opener. The following week will see the Green Wave take part in the Southern Miss Invitational - this time in Hattiesburg, Miss. - on March 15. Tulane will once again compete in Tuscaloosa, Ala., as they will head to the Alabama Relays on March 20-22 before returning home.

On March 29, Peterson and his team will play host to a slew of schools from around the area at the Tulane Challenge, to be held at Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park. During the 2013 season, the Green Wave started their outdoor campaign with the Tulane Challenge.

"Having a home meet is something we are committed to," added Peterson. "We would like to host at least one meet every year. We expect this to draw in a lot universities within the state of Louisiana and some from out of state. Hosting an invitational in New Orleans gives our athletes the opportunity to compete in front of friends, their families and our fans who have been great in supporting our program."

After the Tulane Challenge, the Green Wave will head to the West Coast to compete at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., from April 4-5. The following week, they will go to the South Alabama Invitational in Mobile, Ala.

Three one-day meets will wrap up the regular season portion of the outdoor campaign, as the Green Wave will take the field at the Southeastern Louisiana Invitational on April 18 in Hammond, La., the LSU Alumni Gold on April 19 in Baton Rouge, La., and the Seminole Twilight in Tallahassee, Fla., on May 9.
