Nathan Junius Named Academic All-District

May 22, 2000

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane track and field team member Nathan Junius was named an academic all-district selection Monday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Junius, a native New Orleans, was selected to the 2000 GTE Academic All-District VI Spring Men's At-Large Team. The junior Chemical Engineering major carries a 3.42 grade point average. It is the first time he has earned academic all-district honors.

Junius is the two-time defending Conference USA champion in the javelin throw, having won the event with a school-record mark of 240 feet, 4 inches (73.26 meters) just nine days ago. It is also the nation's second-best mark by a collegian this year.

He will be competing in the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Raleigh, N.C., from June 2-6.
