NEW ORLEANS - After a solid showing at the 2012 Conference USA Championships, the Tulane track and field program will send four individuals to the 2012 NCAA East Regional Championships which will be hosted at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida. A trio of seniors and one rookie will represent the Olive and Blue and look to punch their tickets to the NCAA National Championships.

A pair of field event student-athletes and a pair of sprinters will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. to compete in the three-day event. At the regional, 48 participants will take part in the prelims of each event, with the top 24 advancing to the finals and the top 12 from the finals earning a trip to the NCAA National Meet.

Ana Ruzevic enters the meet with the second best javelin throw in the east region and the 11th best throw in the country in the event. The senior was a First Team All-American last season when she finished fourth overall at the 2011 NCAA National Championships. This season, Ruzevic has won three individual titles, including her second straight Conference USA crown in the javelin, and came close to breaking her own school record. Ruzevic will look to become just the third track and field student-athlete to advance to the NCAA National Meet three or more times. The Split, Croatia native would join sprinter Gloria Asumnu and distance standout Hanne Lyngstad - who each advanced four times - as the only three-time Green Wave participants on the biggest collegiate stage.

Senior Kasey Rodgers will look to continue her improvement when she takes to the lanes to compete in the 100 meter. Rodgers qualified with the 43rd fastest time in the east at 11.64-seconds, but will look to bring that time down towards her career-best time of 11.49 which she set at the LSU Relays last season. The senior ranks fourth in the Tulane record book and holds all nine of the top times for the Green Wave this season.

Also on the oval, Zandria Debowles will compete in the 400-meter hurdles for the second straight season at the regional. The senior saved her best performances for the championship portion of the schedule and set a pair of season-best time at the Conference USA Championships last weekend. DeBowles broke the 60-second mark in the prelims and finals of the C-USA meet, marking the first times this season she went sub-60, but will look to challenge her career-best time of 58.82 while she set last May.

The lone Green Wave underclassmen to head to the NCAA East Regional and the third ranked rookie in the triple jump field, Estefany Cruz will look for a repeat performance from the indoor season when she advanced to the NCAA National Meet. Cruz has moved her named into third on the all-time triple jump list with a season-best leap of 12.83-meters at the Conference USA Championships to earn Second Team All-C-USA accolades. Cruz ranks 18th overall in the field and will look to become just the third Tulane triple jumper to qualify for the NCAA National Meet.

Competition begins on Thursday, May 26 and will continue through Saturday, May 28 at Hodges Stadium on the University of North Florida campus. The National Championships will be contested at historic Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa from June 6-9.
