NEW ORLEANS - All of the hard work and dedication during the regular season will culminate over the weekend in Houston, Texas, as the Tulane track and field program will compete at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships from Thursday to Sunday at Rice University's Holloway Field & Ley Track.
Live results can be followed by clicking on the `live results' link on the TulaneGreenWave.com track and field schedule page.
Kicking things off at the conference meet will be junior Tiffany Kenney. The native of Colorado Springs, Colo., will have a full plate at the meet, as she will compete in the heptathlon. The event will begin at 1:30pm CT, and will be spread across two days.
"We brought Tiffany here specifically as a heptathlete," stated Tulane track and field director Eric Peterson. "She's been making good and steady progress over the last two years that culminated into a good indoor championship performance in the pentathlon, where she got as high as fourth in the conference in that event. On paper, looking at this event, there are five really strong heptathletes in this conference, and beyond that, I think the scoring spots are wide open. We are very hopeful that the amount of experience that Tiffany has acquired over the past couple of years, and after competing well during this last season, that she will have a good heptathlon."
On day one, Kenney will partake in the 100 meter hurdles, the high jump, the shot put and the 200 meter dash. On Friday, Kenney will wrap up her portion of the meet by competing in the long jump, the javelin and the 800 meter run.
While the junior has not competed in the heptathlon during any meet this season, she has competed all but one of the individual events during the regular season.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Kenney posted a new personal best in the event at the Southeastern Louisiana Invitational on April 18 when she ran a 15.10. She also posted a personal best in the shot put at the same meet, tossing 10.70 meters. Her season high in the 200 meter dash came in Hammond, La., as well, as she ran a 26.68. She competed in the high jump on two occasions during the season, but no heighted both times.
Kenney has been spectacular during the last two conference indoor championship meets, as she placed fourth during the 2014 C-USA Indoor Championships with 3,590 points after finishing fifth the previous year with 21 fewer points. Her personal best score of 4,767 points in the heptathlon came during the Conference USA Outdoor Championships last season on May 10.
