NEW ORLEANS, La. - Tulane University sophomore Nadja Petersen (Stockholm, Sweden) was named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week for women's track the Conference announced Tuesday. It is the second time this season that she has earned the honor.

Petersen had her second automatic qualifying time in the 400 Intermediate Hurdles to lead Tulane University at the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University on Sunday. Petersen won the hurdles in 57.18, her personal best time and the fifth-best time in the nation this year. It also improves on her own school record.

Petersen is one of five members of the Green Wave track team to earn Athlete of the Week honors this spring. In addition to Petersen's two honors, junior Solomon Kandie (Nairobi, Kenya), senior Noel Comrie (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica), junior Nathan Junius (New Orleans, La.) and sophomore Marie Ahlander (Arsta, Sweden) have each been selected once.

The Tulane track teams are in action this weekend at the Conference USA Outdoor Track Championships at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla.
