NEW ORLEANS -- The Tulane women's golf team earned a berth in the 2000 NCAA East Regional, it was announced by Monday by the NCAA Women's Golf South District Advisory Committee.
The Green Wave will enter the East Regional as the No. 10 seed from the South District. It is Tulane's fourth consecutive appearance at the NCAA Regional, but its first appearance as a team. The Wave sent individual competitors in each of the last three seasons.
"I am tremendously excited and thrilled that our team will get a chance to experience this NCAA Championship event," said Green Wave head coach Sue Bower. "The girls have worked tremendously hard this season and it is an honor to be rewarded like this."
The NCAA East Regional will be held May 11-13 in Columbus, Ohio. The event will be contested at Ohio State University's Scarlet Course. Twenty-four teams and six individuals from three districts will be competing at the East Regional for the right to advance to the NCAA Women's Golf Championships.
The top 11 teams and three individuals from the NCAA East and West Regionals will
advance to the 2000 NCAA Women's Golf Championships on May 24-27, which will
be contested at the Crosswater Course at the Sun River Resort in Sun River, Ore.
Oregon State University will host the championship event.
