NEW ORLEANS - It will be a championship type schedule this weekend for the Tulane track and field program as they will run on back-to-back days, starting on Friday (April 20) at the Southeastern Lion Invitational before a select group of student-athletes will compete at the LSU Alumni Gold competition.

Friday will feature the full contingent of Green Wave competitors, while participants had to meet minimum qualifying standards for Saturday's Alumni Gold meet. Thirty-four competitors are entered into the field at the Southeastern Lion Invitational inside the new renovated Southeastern Track Complex before 21 student-athletes head west on I-10 to Baton Rouge, La.

On the track for the women's squad, Kasey Rodgers will compete in the 100 meter at both events, as will Hilary Woods in the 400 meter. The trio of Zandria Debowles, Tiffanie Smith and Candice St. Etienne will also take to the oval during each of the two days in the 400-meter hurdles. In the field, Ana Ruzevic will make the trip to both venues to throw the javelin.

The men's lineup will feature three participants that will take part in both meets. Justyn Shackelford will run the 400-meter hurdles and look to improve upon his season-best time of 56.46 in the event. The 400 meter will watch as a pair of competitors will make the one-lap dash on Friday and Saturday. Christopher Arechiga and Jon Frano will each look to improve on their top-ten marks in Conference USA.

 

 

Jessica Knierim and Joanna Lapucha will compete in the pole vault at the LSU Alumni Gold, while Estefany Cruz and Briana Santiago will each take to the runway to partake in the triple jump.
