NEW ORLEANS - Tulane's track and field program will have not one, but two opportunities to get some work in with the Conference USA Outdoor Championships looming as the Green Wave will stay in-state on Friday at the Southeastern Louisiana Lion Invitational in Hammond, La., and the LSU Alumni Gold meet on Saturday in Baton Rouge.

Results for each meet will be posted after the conclusion of each meet at TulaneGreenWave.com. Live results for the LSU Alumni Gold meet can be followed by clicking the `live results' link on the TulaneGreenWave.com track and field schedule page.

The Green Wave will send a full contingent of athletes to both meets, with many of the participants competing in both meets over the weekend. The weekend marks the first time this season many of the Green Wave will pull double-duty in back-to-back meets.

"This is a great opportunity for us," said Tulane track and field director Eric Peterson. "We will use these meets to simulate the championship schedule by having our kids on back-to-back days. We want to push our kids this weekend at a little higher level than we did last weekend. We are really hopeful that we are going to start seeing some outstanding results. We are working very hard, and even though we have some kids who are ranked high in the conference rankings, we are not satisfied at this point in time. We are looking for big levels of improvement."

Pole vaulters Jessica Knierim and Emma Staisloff are currently scheduled to compete in both meets over the weekend. Respectively, their top jumps on the season rank sixth and seventh in the league standings. Team leader Mary Carson Pitts, whose 3.97 meters (13-0.25) leap at the Stanford Invitational, and senior Joanna Lapucha will compete at just the LSU Alumni Gold meet.

Two 800 meter runners in sophomore Jessica Adamson and junior Michelle Kreutzberg will compete in the event in both meets over the weekend. Adamson owns the second-best time on the season in the league in the event, having run a 2:12.60 at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, while Kreutzberg's top time ranks sixth on the year, having finished in 2:14.52 during the Alabama Relays.

Fellow top 800 meter runner Sara Kebede will run in the 1,500 meter race, having competed in the event twice on the season. The freshman from San Clemente, Calif., is scheduled to compete at both meets.

The Green Wave's top sprinter on the season in sophomore Lilla McMillan is currently scheduled to run on three occasions over the weekend. The Mill Valley, Calif., native will compete in the 200 meter dash at the Southeastern Louisiana Invitational before competing in the 400 meter dash at the LSU Alumni Gold on Saturday. McMillan ranks sixth in the league in the 200 meter dash, having posted a 23.91 finish at the South Alabama Invitational last weekend. She also ranks fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 54.97 at the Alabama Relays.

One athlete who will compete in just one meet over the weekend is redshirt freshman javelin thrower Daliadiz Ortiz. The native of Puerto Rico will compete at just the LSU Alumni Meet on Saturday. Ortiz' top throw on the season - a 49.28 meter (161-8) toss at the Stanford Invitational - ranks first in the league on the season.

In addition to Ortiz, Tulane's trio of solid triple jumpers in redshirt junior Estefany Cruz, sophomore Tamika Brazzel and senior Briana Santiago will compete at just the LSU Alumni Gold in their specialty event. Cruz owns the fourth-best triple jump in the league on the season, while Brazzel and Santiago own the sixth- and eighth-best leaps, respectively.

Brazzel will also look to improve on her school-record time in the 100 meter hurdles, as well as the long jump, at the Southeastern Louisiana Invitational on Friday.

The men's team will also be out in full force over the weekend. Sophomore distance runner Jack White will compete in both meets in the 1,500 meter run, despite ranking third in the league in the 3,000 meter run on the year. White has competed in the 1,500 meter run four times on the season, and even won the event title at the Jaguar Opener on March 7.

Sophomore Devon Breaux will be a busy man over the weekend, as he is currently listed to compete in the long jump at the LSU Alumni Gold, while he could also be called into duty during the 4 x 100 meter relay. Breaux currently owns the eighth-best long jump in C-USA on the season, having jumped 7.27 meters (23-10.25) at the Stanford Invitational. Breaux has only long jumped three times this season.

Pole vaulter Caleb Bertrand will have a couple of opportunities to build on his career-best performance from last weekend, as he is scheduled to compete in both meets over the weekend. The Elton, La., native posted a 4.95 meter (16-2.75) vault at the South Alabama Invitational last weekend in Mobile, Ala. His jump ranks third in the league on the season, and is also the second-best jump in school history.
