CHICAGO -- Tulane men's track and field team member Edrige Darling earned Conference USA men's track and field Athlete-of-the-Week honors, the league announced Thursday.
Darling, a senior from Kingston, Jamaica, qualified for the finals in the men's 400-meter hurdles at last weekend's 73rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays by winning preliminary heat No.2 with a Conference USA-best time of 51.41 seconds. His effort was a season best and the second-fastest time in school history. Overall, Darling's preliminary time ranked seventh in the field of 48. He finished eighth in the finals.
It is the first time in his career that Darling has been named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week.
The Tulane track and field team will next be in action on Saturday, April 15, at the U.S.
Collegiate Series meet in Tallahassee, Fla.
