CHICAGO -- Hanne Lyngstad, a member of the Tulane track and field team, was named Conference USA women's track and field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Lyngstad, a senior from Elverum, Norway, helped the Green Wave to a second-place team finish at Saturday's Lewis-Tellez Dedication Meet in Houston by winning both the 800 and 1,500-meter races. She topped a field of 15 in winning the 800 meters with a season-best time of 2:12.39. The six-time All-American also cruised in the 1,500 meters, winning the event by nearly 10 seconds with a season-best time of 4:23.98.
It is the first time this outdoor track season and the ninth time in her career that Lyngstad has been so honored by the league office.
The Tulane track and field team is next scheduled to compete this weekend at the Texas
