Wave Takes 10th Place at C-USA Track Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Jelena Jurlina scored in her third event of the championship to finish with a team-high 24 points as Tulane University finished in 10th place at the Conference USA Outdoor Track Championships at UNC-Charlotte's Belk Track. Jurlina, who had won the javelin and taken second in the discus on Friday, added a sixth-place finish in the shot put on Saturday with a throw of 43 feet, 10 and three-quarters inches. Tulane's other top scorer on Saturday was junior Eva Lustigova, who recorded a season-best time of 2:13.59 in the 800-meter run to take fourth place. Junior Carlyne Pradieu was just behind Lustigova with a time of 2:13.97 for fifth place. Sophomore Angel Dooley also earned a fifth-place finish with a career-best time of 11.68 in the 100-meter dash. Her time was the third-best in school history. Freshman Birka Wicke was the only other scorer for Tulane, taking eighth place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:41.82. Tulane also added five points in the relays, taking sixth in the 4x100 and seventh in the 4x400. The Green Wave's 43 points placed it in 10th place overall. South Florida won the event with 147 points, while Houston earned a second-place finish with 138.5 points. TCU (89 points) was third, while Marquette (75) took fourth place.
