Kizzee Shines on Day Two of C-USA Track & Field Championships

Live Scoring | Championship Central TULSA, Okla. - Olivia Kizzee won the prelims of the 200 meter dash as the Tulane Green Wave continued the 14th annual Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Tulsa. Kizzee's time in the 200 was 23.72, tops among those in the preliminary heats. She advances to Saturday's final. She also advanced in the 100 meter dash, posting a time of 11.46, second best in the heats. Freshman Kasey Rodgers finished 11th in 11.93. Senior Katarina Busljeta finished fourth in the discus, with a distance of 48.27m. In the prelims of the 400 meter hurdles, Zandria DeBowles' time of 1:00.71 was good for fourth, earning her a spot in the finals. Rebecca Coady placed fifth in the 3000 meter steeplechase, turning in a time of 11:09.21. Coady also Coady advanced to the finals of the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:41.95. Johanna Gretschel finished 18th in 5:19.35. In the 400-meter dash, Aieshia Brooks came in ninth with a time of 56.98. Redshirt freshman Julia Whitrock placed eighth in the 10,000 meter run, posting a time of 38:03.16 in the finals. In field events, Kelly Curtis finished 15th in the high jump, clearing 1.55 meters. She also came in 13th in the heptathlon, winning the javelin portion with a throw of 34.88 meters. In the long jump portion, she placed 11th and she came in 17th in the 800-meter run to finish with 4007 points.
In the long jump, Raquelle Collins finished in 14th with a distance of 5.50 meters. As a team, Tulane is tied for 10th with 13 points, six points back of seventh place UTEP. In the men's 100 meter dash, Jared Firestone finished 10th with a time of 10.72. Firestone placed 12th in the 200, with a time of 22.48. Koplan Nwabuoku finished 15th with a time of 22.86. Nwabuoku was also 12th in the 400 in 51.29. Ian Batherson placed 10th in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.15 meters. Max Weber posted a distance of 41.03m in the discus to finish 10th. In the long jump, Garrett Myer's distance of 6.54m was good for 11th. Jordon Holtzman finished 14th in the 800 meter run, with a time of 1:58.71, while Kevin Mitchell clocked in at 2:08.23 for 16th. The men rank eighth in the team standings. Action concludes Saturday with a full slate of events including Brian Lozes in the men's 5000 meter, Whitrock in the women's 5000, Craig Kolwicz and Jonathan Kirby in the men's javelin, Curtis and Minor in the women's javelin, and the men's and women's relay teams in the 4x100 and the men's 4x400. |
