Track Teams Contending at C-USA Championships

TAMPA, Fla. - Tulane University had three individual winners during day two of the Conference USA Outdoor Track Championships on Friday at the University of South Florida. The Green Wave women are in third place with 48 points, trailing Houston (54 points) and Marquette (50). The men are currently in eighth place with 19 points. The Charlotte men lead the meet with 40 points. Junior Solomon Kandie (Nairobi, Kenya) won the 3,000-Meter Steeplechase for the men, while junior Catherine Betz (Metairie, La.) won the women's javelin and sophomore Jenny Isgren (Rydsgord, Sweden) took first place in the high jump. Other strong finishers for the Green Wave included sophomore Marie Ahlander (Arsta, Sweden) and junior Teana McKiver (Beulaville, N.C.). Ahglander took second in the long jump, while McKiver was the runner-up in the discus throw. The event will finish on Saturday with the awards ceremony beginning at approximately 8:30 p.m. (CST).
