Green Wave Women Take Sixth at C-USA Indoor Track Championships

HOUSTON, Texas - Tulane University finished with a sixth-place effort at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Houston's Yeoman Field House on Saturday. Houston won the event with 135.5 points to edge South Florida's 131 points. TCU (75 points) took third place while Marquette's 70 points was strong enough for third. Cincinnati's 52.5 points gave the Bearcats fifth place, while the Green Wave tallied 46 points. On Saturday, Tulane had a pair of third-place finishes for six points. Sheena Garwood recorded a time of 2:16.37 in the 800-meter run to take third in that event while Helmi Leppanen took third in the shot put with a season-best throw of 46 feet, five and a half inches. Eva Lustigova added two points with a seventh-place effort in the one-mile run. Aisha Otori and Jelena Jurlina also tallied single points with eighth-place finishes. Otori was eighth in the triple jump, while Jurlina took eighth in the shot put. The top result for the Green Wave at the Championship came on Friday as the distance medley relay team of Carlyne Pradieu, Aisha Otori, Sheena Garwood and Birka Wicke finished in second place with a time of 12:00.54 in the event.
