Crute Breaks Personal Best in 60 Meter Hurdles During LSU Twilight

Feb. 15, 2013

BATON ROUGE, La. - Senior Adiyah Crute posted a season best time of 9.08 seconds in the 60m hurdles to snag seventh place in the event during the LSU Twilight in Baton Rouge, La.

Crute broke her previous best of 9.12 that she set in February 2011. The Richmond, Va., native holds the third best time in the event in Tulane history.

The Green Wave used this meet as a tune up for the upcoming Conference USA Championships, which will be held in Birmingham, Ala., next week. Tulane has competed at the Birmingham Crossplex three other times this season - during the Panther Ice Breaker, the UAB Blazer Indoor Invitational and the Crimson Tide Opener.

Freshman Dana Ohlson and sophomore Tiffany Kenney also ran in the 60 meter hurdles. Ohlson posted a time of 9.42 seconds, taking fourth in her heat and 11th overall. Kennedy came in with a 9.50 second showing, securing 15th place.

In the one-mile event, freshman Mikayla Sonneborn turned in a season best time to lead the Green Wave runners, earning eighth place with a 5:19.60 mile. Senior teammate Emmi Aguillard competed in the one-mile for the first time this season, coming in 12th with a 5:26.48.

Tulane switched up the lineup for the 4x400 relay - entering senior Jerica Banks, freshman Kayla Quincy, sophomore Michelle Kreutzberg, and senior Tiffanie Smith. The quartet placed third in the event with a time of 3:57.23.

Freshman Lilla McMillan finished in 13th place in the 60 meter dash with a 7.82 second dash. Banks also ran in the event, posting a time of 7.90 seconds to earn 15th place overall.

In the field events, the Green Wave pole vaulters had a strong showing. Three Tulane vaulters placed in the top 5 in the event. Sophomore Jessica Knierim led the way in third place with a jump of 3.69 meters (12-1.25). Two of her teammates, freshman Jill Doyle and junior Joanna Lapucha, each marked jumps of 3.54 meters (11-07.25) to tie for fifth.

The Green Wave will travel to Birmingham, Alabama for the Conference USA Championships next Saturday and Sunday.
