NEW ORLEANS - A pair of freshman competed in finals, while five other Tulane track and field competitors qualified for day two in their respective events at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. Tiffany Kenney claimed a seventh place finish in the pentathlon and Paige Callahan finished 16th in the 5,000 meter on the opening day of competition at the Devaney Center located on the University of Nebraska campus.

In her first collegiate pentathlon, freshman Tiffany Kenney set three personal bests and penciled her name into the indoor record books. After competing in multiple individual events in each of the first three meets of the season, Kenney pulled in 3,340 points to finish seventh in the ten-person field. In the process, the rookie grabbed a PR finish in the 60m hurdles, finishing ninth with a time of 9.25, the high jump, tying for sixth with a height of 1.55m and the 800 meter, grabbing a third place showing in 2:23.02. She was tenth in the shot put (9.05m) and ninth in the long jump (4.98m) to finish ahead of three Conference USA opponents.

Hilary Woods qualified for the consolation finals in both the 60 and 200 meter events on Friday in Lincoln, Neb. The sophomore set personal best times in both events, breaking the tape in 7.72 over 60-meters and 25.17 on the 200-meter track. Woods narrowly missed the championship final in both events - top eight qualifying - as she finished 10th in the 200 and 11th in the 60. Tiffanie Smith also qualified for the 200 meter consolation final with a 12th place showing in 25.25.

Candice St. Etienne and Jamie Riles each claimed a spot in the 400 meter consolation finals by finishing 10th and 12th respectively. St. Etienne made the two-lap trek in 57.40, while Riles broke the tape in 57.83.

Freshman Paige Callahan was competing for the first time since finishing the cross country campaign in November and placed 16th overall in the 5,000 meter run. Callahan, who's career-best 5K on the cross country course was 18:01.00, covered the distance in 18:39.46 in her first collegiate indoor meet.

Competition will continue on Saturday, Feb. 3 starting at 10:00 a.m. and live results can be found by clicking here.
