GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Tulane freshman Gloria Asumnu, who set a school record in the 60-meter dash last weekend, recorded the top times in Green Wave history in the 55-meter dash and the 200-meter dash on Sunday afternoon at the Gator Invitational at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
Asumnu recorded a time of 7.0 seconds flat in the preliminary heat of the 55-meter dash to break the school record. Then, less than an hour later, she notched a time of 6.98 seconds in the finals to take fifth place overall. In her next race, the 200-meter dash, she blazed to a time of 24.26 seconds to set her third school record in just her second career meet.
The other top performance turned in by a Green Wave runner came in the mile run as senior Birka Wicke, recorded a time of 4:53.84 to earn second place in the meet.
Tulane returns to action next weekend at the Nebraska Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
