AS A SOPHOMORE (2002-03)
INDOOR: Competed in two meets. Posted the top 5,000-meter time for the Wave at the C-USA Championships (2/28) at 19:50.50. Also ran the 3,000 meters in a time of 11:37.91 at the Houston Classic (2/1). CROSS COUNTRY: Ran in all seven races for the Green Wave -- the team's top finisher in two of those races. Finished second in the two-mile dual meet against South Alabama (10/4) with a time of 12:22.11. Earned a ninth-place finish at the five-kilometer Ragin' Cajun Invitational (9/21) with a time of 20:31.
AS A FRESHMAN (2001-02)
OUTDOOR: Ran the 1,500 meters at two different meets. Posted a career-best time of 5:17.97 at the Tulane Invitational (4/5). INDOOR: Did not compete in any meets. CROSS COUNTRY: Ran in three races for the Wave. Placed seventh in the UNO Dual Meet (two miles, 13:24). Notched a 30th-place finish in the 71-runner LSU Invitational (6K, 25:08.65).
A 2001 graduate of Newman High School, where she lettered in track and cross country. A two-time state champion in the two-mile run. Helped school to the cross country state title in 1998 and 2000. Earned all-state honors twice for both cross country and track. Team MVP and a three-time all-district selection in cross country.
Born November 29, 1982 in Baltimore, Md. The daughter of Shelagh and Paul Whelton. Brother Seamus ran for the Princeton track team. Plans to major in biology at Tulane.
