AS A JUNIOR (2003-04)
INDOOR: Competed in just one meet during the indoor season.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2002-03)
OUTDOOR: Cleared 10 feet at all five of the meets in which she vaulted. Matched her personal-best with a vault of 10 feet, six inches at both the Southern Miss Invitational (4/19) and the LSU Alumni Gold (4/12). Finished in 11th place at the C-USA Championship. INDOOR: Competed at four meets as a sophomore. Posted a career-best indoor pole vault of 10 feet, two inches on two occasions, at the C-USA Championship (2/28) and at the Houston Classic (2/1). Finished 10th at the C-USA Championships.
AS A FRESHMAN (2001-02)
OUTDOOR: Added the school outdoor pole vault record to her accomplishments with a vault of 10 feet, six inches at the LSU Team Invitational (4/19). Also had 10-foot vaults on two occasions. INDOOR: Vaulted at three different meets for the Wave. Established the Green Wave school record in the pole vault by clearing 10 feet even at the C-USA Championships (2/22) to tie for seventh place and earn 1.5 points.
A 2001 graduate of Orono High School, where she lettered in track, soccer and swimming. Named her school's Female Athlete of the Year for 2000-2001. Earned all-state and all-conference honors in the discus and pole vault. Won the state championship in the pole vault.
Ellen Marie Vollmers. Born September 9, 1982 in Plano, Texas. The daughter of Gloria Vollmers and Stellos Tavantzis (stepfather). Her sister Julia played ice hockey at Virginia. Majoring in cellular and molecular biology.
