2001 Outdoor: Tulaneâ€TMs top javelin thrower. Advanced to the NCAA Championship in the javelin throw after a career-best year. Won the C-USA Championship in the javelin with a school record throw of 165-3. Owns nine of the top 10 javelin throws in school history. Also threw the discus a career-best 126-11 at Southern Miss (3/17). 2001 Indoor: Had a season-high throw in the shotput of 33-11.50 at the LSU Twilight Invitational. 2000 Outdoor: Had a personal-best javelin toss of 160-4 in Austin, Texas. Also was Tulaneâ€TMs second-best discus perfomer with a best throw of 108-9. 1999 Outdoor: Won the Conference USA javelin title with a throw of 148-1, earning all-conference honors. Posted a season-best effort of 153-1. Also had the best discus toss of the year at 90-1. 1999 Indoor: Competed in the pole vault at the C-USA Indoor Championship meet, registering a personal-best mark of 6-6.75. Prep: The 1998 Times-Picayune Female Athlete of the Year, Betz earned 14 letters at St. Martinâ€TMs Episcopal High School. Won the Louisiana state javelin championship as a junior and senior (148-1). Was the USA Junior Olympic Champion in the javelin as a sophomore. A four-year all-district honoree, MVP as a sophomore and senior.
