Tulane Green Wave Hot Off The Fax
Good morning Tulane fans and welcome to the 2012 National Football Signing Day! We'll bring you updates on each signee as they are received throughout the morning. Don't forget, you can watch Tulane's signing day press conference free of charge on All-Access at 2 p.m. today and we hope everyone will head to Rat inside the LBC for the signing day party tonight at 6 p.m.!

This is Coach Curtis "CJ" Johnson's first signing day at the helm of the Tulane football program. Since his hiring, Tulane has announced plans for a new stadium, the 2012 football schedule, his complete staff and today the recruiting class of 2012.

Johnson's staff has encircled the fax machines on the second and third floor waiting for the newest crop of Green Wave players to send in their signed National Letters-of-Intent.

And here we go! The first letter received from the 2012 recruiting class is from offensive lineman Bob Bradley from Medford, N.J. Bradley is a 6-4, 270-pound product of Shawnee High School. OL Bob Bradley Video

And we're moving...the fax continues to spin and Walker Van Hooser, the younger brother of current TU sophomore receiver Wilson Van Hooser is officially in the books. Van Hooser is a 6-2, 175 pound QB from Montgomery, Ala. QB Walker Van Hooser Video

It should be noted one player has already enrolled at Tulane for the class of 2012 and that's local product Jordan Batiste, a 5-9, 170 pound cornerback from Gramercy and product of Lutcher High School CB Jordan Batiste Video

Four-star cornerback Darion Monroe has made it official! He is now a member of the Green Wave family! Monroe is a 5-10, 165-pound do-it-all player from East St. John High School in LaPlace. WR Darion Monroe Video

So far, Tulane's class has been heavy on the offensive side of the ball with a quarterback (Van Hooser), a receiver (Monroe) and an offensive lineman (Bradley). Batiste, who is already enrolled and working out with the team, is slated at cornerback.

The Sports Hangover guys, Gus and Larry, will go live from the Wilson Center at 11 a.m. and will have on Coach Johnson and Doug Lichtenberger during their show which runs right up to the 2 p.m. press conference. You listen to the show live on WIST-AM 690 or listen to the stream at wistradio.com.

Tulane now has its second cornerback for the 2012 class as Donaldsonville, La. native Devon Breaux is officially on board. Breaux is a 6-2, 180-pound product of Donaldsonville High School. CB Devon Breaux Video

The sixth member of the 2012 class is the group's second offensive lineman, as Colton Hanson has faxed in his NLI. Hanson is a 6-6, 283-pound offensive tackle from New Braunfels, Texas and he prepped at New Braunfels High School. OT Colton Hanson Video

Royce LaFrance, a 6-2, 210-pound linebacker from Helen Cox High School in Harvey is the latest to send in his NLI. LB Royce LaFrance Video

If you're keeping up with the local count, so far four of the seven signees hail from Louisiana.

Tulane continues to stockpile the offensive linemen with its third of the morning. Nathan Shienle, a 6-5, 285-pound native of Tampa, Fla. is the latest to send in his NLI to the Green Wave. An offensive tackle, Shienle prepped at H.B. Plant High School. OT Nathan Shienle Video

And now we have our fourth O-Lineman of the morning with Todd Jacquet faxing in his NLI. Jacquet is a 6-5, 275-pound offensive tackle from nearby Harvey, who preps at Jesuit High School. OT Todd Jacquet Video

Tulane is expecting to sign 16 players today and, counting Batiste, we now have nine NLI's in by 8:30 a.m.

No. 10 is in and he's a big one. Defensive tackle Calvin Thomas has signed on the dotted line and his faxed was just received. Thomas stands at 6-2 and weighs in at 260 pounds. He is from Chandler, Ariz. and attends Hamilton High School. OT Calvin Thomas Video

For all the Tulane fans itching to see CJ and his staff in action on the field. The first spring practice will be Wed., Feb. 22 and it will be an early morning! All spring dates and times, including the spring game, will be released either later this week or early next week so stay tuned!

After a brief cooling off period for the fax machines, St. Aug's Lorenzo Doss is the third cornerback in the 2012 class to ink his name with the Green Wave. A native New Orleanian, Doss is a 5-11, 175 product of St. Augustine High School and will be reunited with his former high school head coach, David Johnson, who is now a member of the Tulane football coaching staff. CB Lorenzo Doss Video

The 12th NLI received is from Josh Rounds, who prepped around the corner at McMain High School and really could have just walked the NLI on over! Rounds is a 5-11, 195-pound running back and native of New Orleans. RB Josh Rounds Video

Tulane now has a baker's dozen with the latest NLI coming from offensive guard Alex Paul, a 6-5, 305-pounder from Newman High School. OG Alex Paul Video

As national signing day rolls on, so do the fax machines at Tulane. Kedrick Banks, a 5-8, 170-pound athlete from New Orleans' McDonogh 35 High School is the latest NLI received. ATH Kedrick Banks Video

Upon further review, Lorenzo Doss will be listed as a receiver and not a cornerback.

Running back Lazedrick Thompson has made it official. Tulane just received his NLI, making him No. 15, and the 6-0, 200-pounder is now a Green Wave. He played for former Tulane football assistant coach Frank Monica at St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace. RB Lazedrick Thompson Video

Well, we're waiting on our last commitment to become official.

Coach CJ will be on WWL-Radio this afternoon at 4:45 p.m. talking about today's recruiting class and the Super Bowl with Deke and Bobby.

Following today's press conference, check the football page for the official press release and quotes from the presser.

Tulane fans the wait is now over and Coach CJ's first recruiting class as the Green Wave head coach is now complete with the last NLI received from O.P. Walker quarterback Devin Powell. The 6-3, 205-pound New Orleanian is the final prepster to sign with Tulane. QB Devin Powell Video

The final tally from the Wave's 2012 recruiting class is 16 players with 11 Louisianians, including 9 area natives, and Tulane adds 10 on offense, 5 on defense and 1 athlete.

With the addition of 11 players from the state, the 2012 roster will feature a total of 47 players from Louisiana.
