2010-11 Points of Pride
  • The addition of women's bowling and women's sand volleyball brings the Green Wave's Athletics Department back into compliance with 16 Division I programs. Both programs will begin competition in 2011-12.
Final Four 2011

  • Tulane's 16-sport line-up for the 2011-12 campaign includes six men's sports (baseball, basketball, cross country, football, tennis, outdoor track & field) and nine women's sports (basketball, bowling, cross country, golf, swimming & diving, tennis, indoor and outdoor track & field, volleyball).

  • Tulane concluded the 2010-11 campaign with a total of 268 scholarship student-athletes with a breakdown of 161 male student-athletes and 107 female student-athletes.

  • Tulane is the host institution for the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in 2012 and the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four in 2013. Tulane will also host the 2012 Conference USA Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships at Tad Gormley Stadium.

  • Since 2007, Tulane has hosted two NCAA Tournament Men's Basketball First/Second Rounds (2007, 2010) and hosted the NCAA Tournament Men's Basketball Southeast Regional in 2011.
  • The Green Wave men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball teams will have a new practice facility this fall with the opening of the Hertz Practice Facility. The newest addition to Tulane's family of facilities is a $13 million project named in honor of Doug Hertz, an Atlanta businessman and the chair of the Tulane Board Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Tulane's men's basketball, men's cross country, men's tennis, men's outdoor track & field, women's swimming and women's tennis programs were each recognized by the NCAA for placing in the top 10 percent in their sports on the multiyear Academic Progress Rates (APR).
  • For the seventh consecutive year, Tulane's student-athletes remain one of the best groups in the nation with their performance in the classroom as all 14 of TU's current varsity sports teams scored well above their national averages for the 2009-10 campaign, according to the most recent multi-year Academic Performance Rates (APR) released by the NCAA.
  • Tulane University had 129 student-athletes earn Conference USA Commissioners Honor Roll and 20 student-athletes earn the Conference USA Academic Medal during the 2010-11 academic year.
  • Tulane student-athletes completed a combined 500 total hours of community service during the 2010-11 campaign.

  • Five Green Wave student-athletes earned All-America honors during the 2010-11 campaign, including junior track & field standout Ana Ruzevic, who finished fourth in the nation in the javelin throw and earned first team All-America honors, while baseball pitcher Alex Facundus was named to Collegiate Baseball Magazine Freshman All-America team and running back Orleans Darkwa was named to Phil Steele's Freshman All-America third team. Sophomore golfer Maribel Lopez Porras received honorable mention All-America honors from Golfweek.com and another TU sophomore, Kayla Alf-Huynh, was named an honorable-mention Mid-Major All-American by CollegeSwimming.com.
  • On the conference level, sophomore Maribel Lopez Porras was named the 2011 Conference USA Golfer of the Year, while rookie volleyball standout Cori Martone was named the C-USA Freshman of the Year. Meghan Chapman from women's golf and men's tennis student-athlete Idan Mark were each named a C-USA Newcomer of the Year. Sadie Eicher from the women's swimming & diving team was named the C-USA Freshman Diver of the Year.

  • Two Green Wave programs advanced to postseason play in 2010-11, including the women's golf team, which played in the NCAA Central Regionals and the women's basketball squad that participated in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Individually, sophomore golfer Maribel Lopez Porras became the first Tulane golfer to represent the Green Wave as an individual at the NCAA Championships and junior Ana Ruzevic competed at the NCAA Track & Field National Championships.
  • Tulane head women's basketball coach Lisa Stockton and Green Wave head baseball coach Rick Jones, the longest tenured coaches in Conference USA in their respective sports, each reached milestones during the 2010-11 season. Stockton earned her 400th career victory, while Jones registered his 1,000th career win.
  • Tulane Athletics and the Kate and Bob Devlin S-AFE Center are pleased to offer alumni, fans, and friends across the country an opportunity to support Green Wave Athletics along with the community it serves. The S-AFE Center "Youth Ticket Initiative" provides tickets to Green Wave contests to the youth of New Orleans through a partnership with local public elementary schools.
