Rodgers comes to Tulane from The Ivy League
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair Troy Dannen announced today the hiring of Scottie Rodgers as the Green Wave's new Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications.
Rodgers joins Tulane after spending the last eight years as the Associate Executive Director, Communications and External Relations at The Ivy League Office. At Tulane, Rodgers will manage and lead the media and public relations, social media and overall communications efforts of the Green Wave. He will also serve as the primary contact for Tulane's football and women's golf programs.
"Our emphasis in athletic communications is changing," stated Dannen. "While sports information and media relations continues to be an important component of our communications strategy, the ability to communicate all of our departmental activities and interests through video and social media to a national audience of constituents, and importantly recruits, is key to our long term success in this area. Scottie is well-known and highly-respected nationally in athletic communications circles, and brings a wealth of experience in connecting with people, and creating messages like those we want to be heard about Tulane athletics."
"I am ecstatic to be afforded the opportunity to promote the student-athletes, coaches and administrators who represent Tulane so well, on and off the fields of play," said Rodgers. "I want to thank Troy and Brandon (Macneill) for bringing me on board to be a part of the Green Wave family."
At The Ivy League, Rodgers led the overall communications strategy for all 33 sports and 15 championship events while overseeing all external relations areas including television, marketing/sponsorships, merchandising, licensing and branding as a member of the Executive Director's senior management team. Prior to joining The Ivy League, Rodgers spent a little more than two years at CBS Sports Digital as a senior director of university relations.
Rodgers was also the assistant and later associate director for the Division I Women's Basketball Championship at the NCAA National Office (June 2000-Nov. 2005) after working in various capacities at the Southeastern Conference Office (June 1995-June 2000).
Rodgers graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 1995.
Rodgers replaces Roger Dunaway, who resigned in late July to accept the position of Assistant Director of Public Relations on Tulane's campus.
